"A Little Bit Vintage"

Sometimes it's great to have something that looks brand spanking new. Sometimes we want 'something a little bit vintage'. For this particular client nothing but vintage will do. She might spend $5 on a 50's skirt from her local thrift store, or upwards of $500 for a vintage designer original. Whatever! She always looks head turning good. So when she asked me to make her "a 40's vintage belt" I went looking for vintage aged leather -- I found it on an old plough horse harness. This leather had lived! The gorgeous, huge, blue/green turquoise cabochon came from my stash of special stones, and the conchos were hand cut and stamped...it was a lot of work, but let me tell you she looks wonderful in it.

What's the definition of Strength?

An elephant hanging over a cliff, it's trunk wrapped firmly around a daisy.

I designed and made this necklace for one of my favorite women. A charming and graceful L.A. film producer, who has the tenacity & willpower of that daisy when it comes to getting the job done......and done properly.

"Daisy Roots" -- hand cut, natural carnelian beads (fabulous!!), with vintage Cerrilos turquoise cabochon from Rosie's secret stash. Bezel adorned with one dainty but vivid Gaspiate stone.

WONDER WOMAN LIVES...

how do I know? Well she emailed me of course -- seems she needed a new pair of cuffs.

This was a fun project. The wide sterling cuffs were hand wrought and hammered. The stars were hand cut and hand filed. Everyone who came to my studio, while I was working on these, fell in love with them. We decided it's nice to know that there's a woman out there who knows her worth!

EuroCat

He said he needed something decidedly different. A tux bolo sometimes....but one that he could wear to the Telluride Blues Festival. "No holds barred Rosie", he told me...... No holds barred....Magic to my ears.
I snapped to attention. I'd been experimenting with dichroic glass. Glorious layers of color, built to order.

This is a fabulous piece of art glass with lots of gold and red and rainbow flashes, dignified with a black background. I teamed the cabochon with a simple setting -- no point in gilding the lily after all. But I went techno on the tips. Hand made sterling -- encrusted with opal and goldstone and drizzled with gold and copper. He loved it! I wish the photo's could depict the flashes in the art glass....but if something catches your eye at the Telluride Blues Festival, then that's him, go say "Rosie said hi!".
